Students / Early career Scientists

This meeting is focused on Early Career Scientists, both PhD students and Post-Docs. Active participation in presentations and workshop is critical for the success of this meeting. Furthermore, we stress the opportunity to network with colleagues of diverse backgrounds.

In order to promote an active discussion by all and offer ample opportunities to present, the organizing committee decided limiting the number of participants to the meeting. Priority will be given to Students and Early Career Scientists.

Registration fees

Students (50-150 €) and Post-docs (120-220 €) registration fees have been kept to a minimum in order to facilitate broad participation.

Travel Grants

The International Association of Sedimentologists (IAS) offers the opportunity to IAS Students members to benefit for travel grants for the M-Fed 2019 Workshop & Conference. IAS Travel grants are intended to be a contribution to the expenses of the student (travel, housing, registration), but not a full reimbursement of all expenses.

To benefit this grant, please follow the instruction available from the IAS website:

Subscribing IAS student members, who have an active and approved (oral or poster) presentation at the sponsored meeting can apply for such a travel grant. They should submit their application via the IAS website before the deadline (generally 2 months prior to the conference). The application requires submitting a letter of motivation and some specific details regarding location and travel distance, affiliation, etc. (template provided on the submission webpage). After the deadline has passed (always Central European Time!), the Office of the Treasurer distributes the available budget among the approved applications. Applicants are personally informed by the Office of the Treasurer about their travel grant. Travel grants will be transferred to the applicants’ bank account after conclusion of sponsored meeting.

Application conditions – Eligibility criteria:

    • Applicants must be IAS student members (i.e. they must have paid their membership dues and uploaded a proof of studentship on their profile page on the IAS website);
    • Applicants can apply for a travel grant twice per calendar year: once for an IAS meeting (IMS or ISC) and once for any other IAS-sponsored meeting;
    • Applicants must have an active and approved (oral or poster) presentation at the meeting.

IAS student members submit their application through the website before the deadline of September 1st, 2019; after the deadline the application page closes automatically.

The application procedure is simple and requires submitting a short letter of motivation together with some specific details about location and travel distance, affiliation, etc.
