As a tourists destination, you will find multilingual staff at banks, hotels, shops and key visitor attractions in Dijon.

Letter of Invitation

Upon request, the secretariat of the M-fed 2019 conference can provide a letter of invitation confirming the name, dates, location and purpose of the conference. This letter no way represents a commitment to the participant from the organizing committee, but may only help participant to obtain a visa or travel funds.

The average temperatures in Dijon during the end of October usually range from 5°C (41°F) in the morning to 13°C (55°F) in the afternoon. Fog is frequent in the morning during fall/winter and generally dissipates in the middle of the morning. Please consider bringing appropriate rain gear and an umbrella.

Currency, Banking & Credit Cards

The Euro is the official currency of France, and of most European Union member states.

Foreign currencies can be exchanged at banks and at foreign currency exchange offices at locations throughout the city, or at the airport if you travel by plane. However, the most convenient mean of getting cash stays the ATMs (Automatic Teller Machines) which can be found all over the city.

Most businesses in France accept major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express)

Sales tax

In France, the indicated prices include the VAT (either 10% or 20%, depending on the goods/services) and are considered as “TTC” (Toutes Taxes Comprises: all taxes included). You will not be charged for additional taxes.

In some stores dedicated to professionals, you may encounter prices indicated as “HT” (Hors Taxes: without taxes), meaning excluding the VAT. In this case, the VAT will be charged to this price.

For US, Canada or Japan citizens (as well as other countries using 110 volts residential voltage), please verify if your devices are compatible (you may find something like “110-240V” on the adaptor). If not, you may need to use a voltage converter or transformer.
